Om Namah Shivaya

Om - the primordial sound of the universe
Namah - I bow, I offer salutations
Shivaya - to Shiva, the auspicious one

I bow to Lord Shiva. Na represents earth, Ma represents water, Si represents fire, Va represents air, Ya represents space or ether. By chanting these five syllables, one surrenders all five elements back to the divine.
