Gurur Brahma - the Guru is Brahma, the creator
Gurur Vishnu - the Guru is Vishnu, the preserver
Gurur Devo Maheshwarah - the Guru is Maheshwara (Shiva), the destroyer
Guruh Sakshat Parabrahma - the Guru is the direct manifestation of the Supreme Brahman
