The mantra of Lord Narasimha, the man-lion avatar of Vishnu for protection.
ज्वलन्तं सर्वतो मुखं
नृसिंहं भीषणं भद्रं
मृत्योर् मृत्युं नमाम्यहम्
Jwalantam Sarvato Mukham
Nrisimham Bheeshanam Bhadram
Mrityor Mrityum Namamyaham
Ugram - the fierce one
Veeram - the heroic one
Mahavishnum - the great Vishnu
Jwalantam - blazing with fire
Sarvato Mukham - facing all directions simultaneously
Nrisimham - the man-lion
Bheeshanam - the terrifying one
Bhadram - the auspicious, benevolent one
Mrityor Mrityum - the death of death itself
Namamyaham - I offer salutations
I bow to the fierce, heroic, great Vishnu in His man-lion form, who blazes like fire and faces in all directions simultaneously, who is both terrifying and auspicious, and who is the very death of death.
