📜 History & Origin

Ayodhya has been revered as Rama birthplace since ancient times. The original Vikramaditya-era temple was demolished by Babur in 1528 CE to build the Babri Masjid. Centuries of legal struggle culminated in the Supreme Court verdict of November 2019 awarding the land to the Ram temple trust. The foundation stone was laid by PM Modi in August 2020 and the temple was consecrated on 22 January 2024.

🏛 Architecture & Structure

Nagara style in pink Rajasthani sandstone from Bansi Pahadpur. Main temple is 380 ft long, 250 ft wide and 161 ft tall with three floors. No iron or steel used in construction. The complex spans 70 acres with multiple shrines, a museum, archives, yatra facilitation centre and Vedic pathshala. The main idol of Ram Lalla (5-year-old Rama) is carved from black stone from Nepal.

Mangala Aarti (4:00 AM), Shringar darshan (6:30 AM), Raj Bhog (noon), Sandhya Aarti (7:00 PM), Shayan Aarti (10:00 PM). Online darshan slot booking available on official website. Queue management by UP police and temple trust volunteers.

Air: Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya (10 km, inaugurated 2023). Rail: Ayodhya Junction (2 km) and Ayodhya Cantt (3 km) - direct trains from Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Lucknow. Road: NH-27 from Lucknow (135 km, 2.5 hrs). Dedicated shuttle service from railway station to temple.
