🌆What Pradosh isप्रदोष क्या है
Pradosh is the Trayodashi (13th lunar day) of each fortnight, worshipped at twilight — the 1½ hours or so after sunset. The Skanda Purana says Shiva dances in joy on Kailash at this hour while the gods sing, so worship then is especially dear to him. There are two Pradosh fasts each month, and each takes its name and its special blessing from the weekday it falls on.
A popular story tells how the Moon, cursed by Daksha to waste away, was saved by Shiva on a Trayodashi and placed on his head — so Pradosh is also kept for healing.
प्रदोष हर पक्ष की त्रयोदशी है, जिसकी पूजा संध्या — सूर्यास्त के बाद लगभग डेढ़ घंटे — में होती है। स्कंद पुराण कहता है कि इस समय शिव कैलास पर आनंद से नृत्य करते हैं और देवता गाते हैं, इसलिए तब की पूजा उन्हें विशेष प्रिय है। हर महीने दो प्रदोष व्रत होते हैं, और हर एक का नाम और विशेष फल उस वार से जुड़ा है जिस पर वह आता है।
एक लोकप्रिय कथा बताती है कि दक्ष के शाप से क्षीण होते चंद्रमा को शिव ने त्रयोदशी पर बचाकर अपने मस्तक पर धारण किया — इसलिए प्रदोष रोगमुक्ति के लिए भी रखा जाता है।
📜Guru Pradosh kathaगुरु प्रदोष कथा
When the gods were losing a war against the asura Vritrasura, Indra turned to Brihaspati, the guru of the gods. Brihaspati told him that Vritra, in a past life, had been a devotee of Shiva, and advised Indra to keep the Thursday Pradosh fast. Indra did so with the gods and, by Shiva’s grace, won the war.
So the Guru Pradosh is kept for victory over enemies and obstacles, and for the blessing of one’s guru.
जब देवता असुर वृत्रासुर से युद्ध हार रहे थे, इंद्र देवगुरु बृहस्पति के पास गए। बृहस्पति ने बताया कि वृत्र पिछले जन्म में शिव भक्त था, और इंद्र को गुरुवार का प्रदोष व्रत रखने की सलाह दी। इंद्र ने देवताओं सहित व्रत रखा और शिव कृपा से युद्ध जीता।
इसलिए गुरु प्रदोष शत्रुओं और बाधाओं पर विजय, और अपने गुरु के आशीर्वाद के लिए रखा जाता है।

Fastव्रत
Fast from sunrise — phalahar or nirjala — and keep the mind on Shiva through the day.

Bathe or wash and wear clean (ideally white) clothes an hour before sunset.
