🌆What Pradosh isप्रदोष क्या है
Pradosh is the Trayodashi (13th lunar day) of each fortnight, worshipped at twilight — the 1½ hours or so after sunset. The Skanda Purana says Shiva dances in joy on Kailash at this hour while the gods sing, so worship then is especially dear to him. There are two Pradosh fasts each month, and each takes its name and its special blessing from the weekday it falls on.
A popular story tells how the Moon, cursed by Daksha to waste away, was saved by Shiva on a Trayodashi and placed on his head — so Pradosh is also kept for healing.
प्रदोष हर पक्ष की त्रयोदशी है, जिसकी पूजा संध्या — सूर्यास्त के बाद लगभग डेढ़ घंटे — में होती है। स्कंद पुराण कहता है कि इस समय शिव कैलास पर आनंद से नृत्य करते हैं और देवता गाते हैं, इसलिए तब की पूजा उन्हें विशेष प्रिय है। हर महीने दो प्रदोष व्रत होते हैं, और हर एक का नाम और विशेष फल उस वार से जुड़ा है जिस पर वह आता है।
एक लोकप्रिय कथा बताती है कि दक्ष के शाप से क्षीण होते चंद्रमा को शिव ने त्रयोदशी पर बचाकर अपने मस्तक पर धारण किया — इसलिए प्रदोष रोगमुक्ति के लिए भी रखा जाता है।
📜Som Pradosh kathaसोम प्रदोष कथा
A poor Brahmin woman and her son lived by begging after her husband died. On the advice of the sage Shandilya she kept the Pradosh fast on Mondays, worshipping Shiva at dusk. Her son, by Shiva’s grace, was later recognised and rewarded by a king, and the family’s poverty ended.
Monday already belongs to Shiva, and the Moon he wears on his head is Soma — so a Monday Pradosh is considered doubly auspicious for calm of mind and good health.
पति की मृत्यु के बाद एक गरीब ब्राह्मणी और उसका पुत्र भिक्षा से जीते थे। शांडिल्य ऋषि की सलाह पर उसने सोमवार के प्रदोष का व्रत रखा, संध्या में शिव की पूजा की। शिव कृपा से उसके पुत्र को बाद में एक राजा ने पहचाना और सम्मानित किया, और परिवार की दरिद्रता समाप्त हुई।
सोमवार पहले से शिव का दिन है, और उनके मस्तक का चंद्रमा ही सोम है — इसलिए सोमवार का प्रदोष मन की शांति और अच्छे स्वास्थ्य के लिए दोगुना शुभ माना जाता है।

Fast from sunrise — phalahar or nirjala — and keep the mind on Shiva through the day.

Bathe or wash and wear clean (ideally white) clothes an hour before sunset.
