Meaning
Om - the primordial sound
Tatpurushaya - to that supreme being, the highest soul
Vidmahe - may we know
Mahadevaya - to the great God
Dhimahi - we meditate
Tanno - may that
Rudrah - Rudra, the fierce form of Shiva
Prachodayat - inspire and enlighten
May we know that supreme being. We meditate upon the great God. May that Rudra inspire and guide our intellect toward liberation.
