🕐 The Sacred Legend

Mehandipur Balaji is one of the most powerful Hanuman shrines associated with the removal of evil spirits and black magic. The idol is said to be Swayambhu (self-manifested) — it emerged naturally from the rock face of the hill. Balaji here is accompanied by Pretraj Sarkar (the king of spirits) and Kotwal Bhairav, forming a divine tribunal that judges afflicted souls.

📜 History & Origin

The temple is of ancient origin. The Shri Balaji Seva Sansthan has managed the temple for generations. The tradition of treating spirit afflictions has been documented for centuries. Thousands of families bring afflicted members here annually, some staying for weeks or months in the nearby camps.

🏛 Architecture & Structure

Three main shrines in a mountain setting. The Balaji (Hanuman) idol is swayambhu (self-manifested) in the rock. The Bhairav temple is adjacent. Pretraj Sarkar shrine is further up the hill. The entire complex is built into the natural rock formations.

🆣 Puja & Rituals

The unique Arzi (petition) system — devotees submit written petitions to Balaji. Specific rituals prescribed for different afflictions. Prasad is not taken home — it must be consumed at the temple. The bhog offered here is unique and different from other temples.
