📜 History & Origin
Sage Atri and his wife Anusuya meditated here. The Ramayana describes in detail how Rama visited this ashram in the Aranya Kanda. Anusuya gave Sita divine ornaments that would stay fresh forever. The ashram is in a beautiful forest setting 16 km from Chitrakoot town along the Mandakini river.

Forest ashram with the main temple of Atri-Anusuya. A natural spring (Anusuya Kund) adjacent to the temple. Dattatreya temple in the complex. The surrounding forest is pristine and the Mandakini river flows nearby creating a serene atmosphere.
