💎 About Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur

The most revered temple in Jaipur, housing an idol of Krishna believed to be an exact likeness made by Krishna s grandson Vajranabh, located in the City Palace complex.

🏭

🕐 The Sacred Legend

The original Govind Dev Ji idol was sculpted by Vajranabha, Krishna's great-grandson, who had seen Krishna personally. It was hidden during Aurangzeb's reign and brought to Jaipur by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1735. The maharaja gave up his own residence (Suraj Mahal) in the royal palace complex for the deity — making it the only royal palace in India converted entirely into a temple.

📜 History & Origin

The original idol was installed in Vrindavan by Vajranabh. It was later moved to Amber and then to Jaipur when Sawai Jai Singh II built the new capital. The temple was built in 1735 CE within the City Palace complex. The Jaipur royal family continues to maintain the temple and participate in daily pujas.
