What is Pradosh Vrat?
Pradosh Vrat ( ) is observed on the 13th lunar day (Trayodashi tithi) of both Shukla and Krishna Paksha -- twice a month. The vrat is observed during the Pradosh Kala -- the 1.5 hour window around sunset. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped on this day. It is said that all sins are destroyed and all wishes are granted to sincere devotees.

Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi
- Wake up early, take a holy bath, wear clean white or light-coloured clothes
- Visit a Shiva temple or set up a Shivalinga at home
- During Pradosh Kala (1.5 hrs around sunset), perform Shiva abhishek with milk, honey, curd, ghee and water
- Offer bilva (bael) leaves -- ideally trifoliate -- on the Shivalinga
- Light a sesame oil lamp and incense sticks
- Chant Om Namah Shivaya 108 times or recite Shiva Chalisa
- Offer dhatura flowers, white flowers, and fruits
- Listen to or read the Pradosh Vrat Katha
- Break fast the next morning after sunrise with saatvik food
