🐍Why the Nagas are worshippedनागों की पूजा क्यों
The Nagas are honoured throughout the scriptures: Shiva wears Vasuki around his neck, Vishnu rests on the coils of Ananta, and Vasuki served as the rope at the churning of the ocean. The Bhavishya Purana and Garuda Purana describe the Panchami puja.
In farming villages the rains drive snakes into fields and homes. Honouring them — and not killing them — is an old way of living with the creatures that also protect crops from rats.
One story tells of Janamejaya’s great snake sacrifice, stopped by the sage Astika on a Panchami; the Nagas were saved, and the day was kept in their honour.

🔢The eight great Nagasआठ महानाग
The Nag mantra names eight great serpents: Ananta, Vasuki, Shesha, Padmanabha, Kambala, Shankhapala, Dhritarashtra and Takshaka, along with Kaliya.
In many homes the eight Nagas are drawn on the wall with turmeric or cow dung near the door and worshipped there.
नाग मंत्र में आठ महानागों के नाम हैं: अनंत, वासुकि, शेष, पद्मनाभ, कंबल, शंखपाल, धृतराष्ट्र और तक्षक, साथ में कालिया।
कई घरों में दरवाज़े के पास दीवार पर हल्दी या गोबर से आठ नाग बनाकर वहीं उनकी पूजा होती है।

Draw the Nagas near the entrance with turmeric or sandal paste, or place a Nag image on a plate.
