“Kajari” comes from kajal — the dark, heavy clouds of Bhadrapada. Kajari songs, from Mirzapur and Banaras, sing of longing for an absent husband in the rains, and of Radha and Krishna.
Folk tradition also links the name to a forest called Kajali and to Raja Dadurai’s queen, who sang of her grief there.

🌿Neemdi Mataनीमड़ी माता
In Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, a small pond of water is made with clay beside a neem branch. Women decorate it, light a lamp, and look into the water to see the reflections of the lamp, the neem, jewellery and the moon as part of the puja.
The neem — healing, bitter, evergreen — is honoured as a form of the Mother who protects the family through the season of illness.

Bathe early and take the sankalp; most women keep the fast without water until moonrise.
प्रातः स्नान कर संकल्प लें; अधिकांश स्त्रियाँ चंद्रोदय तक निर्जल व्रत रखती हैं।
Prepare the neem pujaनीम पूजा तैयार करें
In the evening, set the neem branch beside the clay pond, decorate it with roli, mehndi and kajal, and fill the pond with water and milk.
शाम को मिट्टी के तालाब के पास नीम की टहनी रखें, रोली, मेहंदी और काजल से सजाएँ और तालाब में जल और दूध भरें।
