📜The son of the Sunसूर्य के पुत्र
Sanjna, wife of Surya, could not bear his heat and left her shadow, Chhaya, in her place. Shani was born to Chhaya. Because Chhaya had fasted and done penance in the heat while carrying him, Shani was born dark, and Surya doubted he was his son.
Hurt by the insult to his mother, Shani’s gaze fell on his father, who was eclipsed. Shani then did penance to Shiva, who made him the judge among the planets — the one who gives each person the fruit of their karma, without fear or favour.
सूर्य की पत्नी संज्ञा उनका ताप सह न सकीं और अपनी छाया को अपने स्थान पर छोड़ गईं। छाया से शनि का जन्म हुआ। गर्भावस्था में छाया ने धूप में तप और व्रत किए थे, इसलिए शनि श्याम वर्ण जन्मे, और सूर्य ने उन्हें अपना पुत्र मानने में संदेह किया।

Shani moves slowly, taking about two and a half years in each sign. Sade Sati is the roughly seven-and-a-half-year period when Shani passes through the signs before, of and after one’s Moon sign; Dhaiya is a two-and-a-half-year period. These are traditionally seen as times of testing.
Shani is not an enemy: he rewards honesty, discipline, service and patience. Helping workers, the elderly and the poor is considered the surest way to please him.
