धम्मिल्लकायै च जटाधराय नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ १॥
Dhammillakayai cha jatadharaya namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 1
To her whose half-body is golden like the champaka flower, and to him whose half-body is white as camphor; to her with braided hair and to him with matted locks — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जिनका आधा शरीर चंपा के फूल जैसा सुनहरा है और आधा कर्पूर जैसा गौर, जो एक ओर केश-विन्यास और दूसरी ओर जटा धारण करते हैं — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
कृतस्मरायै विकृतस्मराय नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ २॥
Kritasmarayai vikritasmaraya namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 2
To her anointed with musk and kumkum, and to him smeared with the ash of the cremation ground; to her who awakens love and to him who destroyed Kama — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जो एक ओर कस्तूरी-कुमकुम से और दूसरी ओर चिता-भस्म से अलंकृत हैं, जो एक ओर प्रेम जगाती हैं और दूसरी ओर कामदेव का नाश करते हैं — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
हेमाङ्गदायै भुजगाङ्गदाय नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ ३॥
Hemangadayai bhujagangadaya namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 3
To her with jingling bangles and anklets, and to him whose lotus feet wear serpent anklets; to her with golden armlets and to him with serpent armlets — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जिनके एक ओर झनझनाते कंगन-नूपुर हैं और दूसरी ओर चरणों में सर्प-नूपुर, एक ओर स्वर्ण बाजूबंद और दूसरी ओर सर्प के बाजूबंद — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
समेक्षणायै विषमेक्षणाय नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ ४॥
Samekshanayai vishamekshanaya namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 4
To her with large eyes like blue lotuses, and to him with eyes like blooming lotuses; to her with two (even) eyes and to him with three (odd) eyes — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जिनके एक ओर नील कमल जैसे विशाल नेत्र हैं और दूसरी ओर खिले कमल जैसे नेत्र, एक ओर दो नेत्र और दूसरी ओर तीन — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
दिव्याम्बरायै च दिगम्बराय नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ ५॥
Divyambarayai cha digambaraya namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 5
To her whose hair is adorned with mandara garlands, and to him whose neck bears a garland of skulls; to her in divine garments and to him clothed in the directions — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जिनके एक ओर केशों में मंदार की माला है और दूसरी ओर कंठ में मुंडमाला, एक ओर दिव्य वस्त्र और दूसरी ओर दिगंबर — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
निरीश्वरायै निखिलेश्वराय नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ ६॥
Nirishvarayai nikhileshvaraya namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 6
To her with hair dark as rain clouds, and to him with copper-red locks bright as lightning; to her who has no lord above her and to him who is lord of all — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जिनके एक ओर मेघ जैसे श्याम केश हैं और दूसरी ओर बिजली जैसी ताम्र जटाएँ, एक ओर जिनका कोई स्वामी नहीं और दूसरी ओर जो सबके स्वामी हैं — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
जगज्जनन्यै जगदेकपित्रे नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ ७॥
Jagajjananyai jagadekapitre namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 7
To her whose gentle dance (lasya) brings forth creation, and to him whose Tandava dissolves everything; to the Mother of the world and to its one Father — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जिनका एक ओर का लास्य नृत्य सृष्टि रचता है और दूसरी ओर का तांडव सबका संहार करता है, जो जगत की माता और एकमात्र पिता हैं — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
शिवान्वितायै च शिवान्विताय नमः शिवायै च नमः शिवाय ॥ ८॥
Shivanvitayai cha shivanvitaya namah shivayai cha namah shivaya 8
To her with earrings shining with brilliant gems, and to him adorned with great hissing serpents; to her united with Shiva and to him united with Shivaa — salutations to Shivaa and to Shiva.
जिनके एक ओर रत्नों से चमकते कुंडल हैं और दूसरी ओर बड़े सर्पों के आभूषण, जो शिव से युक्त शिवा और शिवा से युक्त शिव हैं — शिवा और शिव को नमस्कार।
प्राप्नोति सौभाग्यमनन्तकालं भूयात्सदा तस्य समस्तसिद्धिः ॥ ९॥
Prapnoti saubhagyamanantakalam bhuyatsada tasya samastasiddhih 9
Whoever reads with devotion this wish-fulfilling octet is honoured in the world, lives long, gains good fortune for endless time, and always attains every accomplishment.
जो इस मनोकामना पूरी करने वाले अष्टक को भक्ति से पढ़ता है, वह संसार में सम्मानित और दीर्घायु होता है, अनंत काल तक सौभाग्य पाता है और उसे सब सिद्धियाँ प्राप्त होती हैं।
